When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough FLAKE OUT
By Dante Vitoria October 31, 2017
That is not how the saying actually goes, but apparently it is the mantra of Senator Jeff Flake. Last Tuesday, Flake announced that he will not seek re-election in 2018.
It’s terrible news, right? What will the folks of Arizona and the rest of the United States do?
I have a suggestion! You just knew I would, didn’t you? Here it is: We have the MOAP — the Mother of All Parties!
The theme will be Goodbye and Good Riddance.
And the party wouldn’t be just for Flake. We’ll celebrate Bob Corker leaving too. See you later alligator!
(My apologies to the entire reptile community.)
Have you ever eaten alligator meat? It tastes like chicken. Ironic, isn’t it? Chicken. Just like Lil’ Jeffie and Bobby. To think these two are Senators of the United States. There seem to be slim pickings in Arizona and Tennessee.
Let’s hope the two people who replace Colonel Sanders’ newest recruits have more character, class, sense of duty, loyalty, and good old-fashioned GUTS than their predecessors.
You may be asking why I’m being so hard on two Republicans. After all, it is no secret I lean to the right. But lately it is becoming crystal clear to me that 2017 is not 1980. Ah, the good ole days, am I right?
YES, DAMNED RIGHT!
Do you remember The Reagan Democrats? They were elected officials who actually understood their position as elected officials – those who were chosen to serve their constituents rather than their over inflated egos.
I understand the choice belongs to Bob Corker and Jeff Flake, but I can’t help wondering what happened to finishing the job you start. Flake said he would not seek re-election in order to remove all considerations of what is normally considered to be safe politically.
Let me translate that into English: Flake will run and hide instead of trying to get re-elected because voters know he is inept. He cannot cooperate with fellow republicans and can’t accomplish anything for the greater good of the country. He’ll tuck his tail between his legs (can chickens do that?) rather than show voters that maybe President Trump’s agenda is not the best one for the country.
Flake is going to slink away into the desert of Arizona and show up, hat in hand, at the doors of CNN.
Rest assured his sole agenda will be bashing President Trump and every other politician for trying to make a difference in our country. No worries, Jeffie, I am sure there is room for you!
I find it amusing that Flake took a cheap shot at President Trump saying he was a registered Democrat as recently as 2009, that he defended partial-birth abortion, supported a ban on assault weapons, and even helped Nancy Pelosi during her campaign.
A real estate mogul, media personality, and billionaire businessman comments on partial-birth abortion – where and when? Perhaps over coffee at a multi-million dollar business deal. What about the “ban” on assault weapons? Don’t look now Jeffie, but President Trump supported legislation on modifications of certain weapons. He’s also in the process of drafting and encouraging other lawmakers for even more restrictions. Making donations to a politician? That is a business decision.
Care to guess what Jeffie was doing in 2009, when President Trump was Donald Trump?
He was a Congressman in Arizona, no doubt soliciting and accepting campaign contributions from WEALTHY American citizens and telling everyone he was a relative of Barry Goldwater, a conservative Republican and legendary elected official.
To think Flake replaced JD Hayworth (my friend and a GREAT man) in Congress. What a sad day that was, not only for Arizona but for the House of Representatives overall.
Let’s not forget the man from Tennessee. What a “corker” he turned out to be. If you don’t get the reference, trust me, it is not a good thing.
Corker took a different approach than Flake. He chose to go directly to the morning talk show circuit. Speaking to none other than CNN, Corker said, “I don’t know why he lowers himself to such a low, low standard and debases our country in that way but he does but he does.”
Wow! Do you think Corker could define what a “low, low standard” is? Perhaps he meant creating over one million new jobs since February. Or maybe he was referencing the shutting down of a gas facility in Syria that had the potential to kill millions of people. It could be standing up to a mad man in North Korea, or restructuring policies to keep the United States of America safe. I’m not sure, but it also could be establishing incentives for companies to return to the U.S., bringing billions of dollars with them and putting back into the American economy.
Do you think Corker is referring to those “low, low standards?”
Bob, don’t go away mad, just GO AWAY. SOON!
This is the same man who all but called the President of the United States a liar outside the Capitol building to, you guessed it, a CNN reporter!
During the same rant Corker expressed hope that the White House staff would find a way of controlling Trump.
Interesting and extremely disrespectful.
The job of Senators Flake and Corker is to assist in the leadership of this country, which means working with President Trump, not against him. If these two gentlemen had one ounce of leadership ability, they would stop the bickering and the name calling. I find it ironic that the two Senators are being praised for boldly voicing all of this nonsense, when they are really just displaying cowardice.
Senator Flake and Senator Corker, if you disagree with President Trump why don’t you face him? Challenge him and offer alternative suggestions to the current issues this country is facing.
Nah, why do that? That is WORK and work is HARD! Instead they’ll just take a seat and be armchair quarterbacks. They’ll second-guess decisions, disavow political players in their own party, and even help create Fake News. I must say, it is a great career move on their part, don’t you think?
By the way, if you are that disenchanted with the current situation, why not just resign?
Mark my words, Corker and Flake’s rants against the President of the United States and the republican party will make the American voters want President Donald Trump residing in the White House come 2020.
Bob, Jeff, look at the great job Trump has already done with no cooperation from you or your buddies. That’s right, I’m talking to you Senators McCain, Paul, Alexander, Moore-Capito, Murkowski, Heller, Collins, and Portman.
Do you think the people of the United States are blind to this?
You tied President Trump’s hands behind his back and he is STILL kicking your asses!
Make America Great Again! If you two chickens wanted to do that you would resign now and go to CNN. That would be the only deed of service you’ve ever given to this great country.
And judging by the Nielsen ratings, nobody would notice you at that channel anyway. Just saying!
In Trump We TRUST!
